Andy Amoroso, the first openly-gay City Commissioner in Palm Beach County (Lake Worth, District 4) announced that the city will take up the banner of marriage equality for LGBT Floridians with a demonstration on March 23 at 2 p.m. on the steps of Lake Worth City Hall at 7 N. Dixie Highway.

“We’re sending a message to Tallahassee that it’s not OK to discriminate against our gay residents,” Amoroso said. “They need to know that we’re losing money with every gay couple that leaves the state to get married.”

Amoroso went on to point out the beauty of the Lake Worth beach and the new casino that make a great location for a marriage.

The commissioner is working with a steering committee of local advocates to plan activities including a same-sex marriage demonstration.

Gay and gay-friendly organizations will be represented and Lake Worth Mayor, Pam Triolo, will read a proclamation declaring the city’s support for equality and urging state lawmakers to see the economic value of keeping marriage dollars at home.
