Venue to Host Weekly Fundraisers

Johnny’s Fort Lauderdale announced last week the inception of their “No 1 Stands Alone” campaign, a program created to meet the growing needs of the local non-profit community. The campaign is the brainchild of Johnny’s owner Sean David and AJ Cross, general manager of the establishment.

Each Tuesday, the venue, which will be rebranded as the Rainbow Lounge, will host a different charity event. The participating non-profit or community leader will be given the space at no cost to the organization.

In addition, the Rainbow Lounge will provide complimentary hors d’oeurves, event promotion, and an MC to host the event, in addition to a two-hour open bar.

A.J. Cross, who will serve as program manager of the campaign, is proud to give back to the community he has been a part of for many years. “I am both pleased and excited to present this campaign, which is intended to utilize the power of the bar and beverage industry to benefit local non-profits on a regular and ongoing basis,” he says.

The space, previously known as Club 11, will provide an intimate environment for guests. “We decided that, in order to move forward in our endeavor, we needed to create a beautiful area separate from Johnny's, free from dancers or any activity which would take away from the integrity of an organization,” says David.

News of the campaign is already spreading. “We have already received emails and phone calls asking for more information and booking opportunities,” says Cross.

The campaign kicked-off yesterday with a meet-and-greet for former North Miami Mayor and Senate candidate Kevin Burns. Burns is an openly gay public official running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mel Martinez.

“The ‘No 1 Stands Alone’ campaign will be a permanent and continual initiative that we will partake in,” says David. “We are confident that we will be able to create strength and support in the LGBT community as well as help to create awareness for those organizations and community leaders that do so much for us.”
