Skier Gus Kenworthy and News Anchor Roxanne Vargas were selected to Marshal the 10th Annual Miami Beach Gay Pride.
The pair will take part in events throughout the week, including the April 8 Pride Parade, according to the release. Kenworthy will serve as the Grand Marshal, while Vargas will serve as the Ally Grand Marshal.
“Gus and Roxy are two preeminent public figures who well represent and support the LGBTQA community,” said Mark Fernandes, the chairman of the Pride board of directors. “Gus for being a role model as an out and proud sportsman who excels at his craft and Roxy for being a prominent ally for the community and equal rights.”
Kenworthy returns from his second-ever Winter Olympics at the 2018 PyeongChang Games, which he did not medal. Kenworthy won a silver in slopestyle in 2014, according to the release.
Notably, Kenworthy kissed his boyfriend Matthew Wilkas on TV in front of the crowd at the PyeongChang Olympics.
Vargas hosts in several capacities for NBC 6 in Miami, including on the “6 in the Mix” show. According to the release, she has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards and has used her platforms to support the LGBT community.
Miami Beach Pride will take place from April 2-8 and will include events such as “Pride Lights the Night, a tribute to the PULSE nightclub victims; the Miss Pride drag pageant; a Friday night VIP Gala; Saturday beach party and festival; and Sunday parade and festival.”
