After a two-year absence, A Celebration of Friends is returning to Fort Lauderdale for its next event.

“We strive not only to host celebrations of our seniors, but family type reunions of our friends and brothers through supportive connections within our nationwide and international scope,” said Tom Pence, A Celebration of Friends Founder.

For more than 15 years, A Celebration of Friends has existed to serve mature men and their admirers. The group is a registered 501(c)4 non-profit whose main purpose, Pence said, is dedicated to benefiting the social welfare of the community. ACOF’s mission statement reads to provide warm, comfortable, safe and engaging gatherings recognizing and promoting self-worth, dignity and kindness and friendships within our senior population.

Pence, aka Tomcat, tells SFGN rooms are going fast for the group’s “January Jamboree” at the Ramada Fort Lauderdale Oakland Park Inn. Dates are Jan. 26-29, 2017.

“We’re coming home,” said Pence. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
For the last two years, the group celebrated at the DoubleTree Orlando SeaWorld and featured appearances by Hollywood screen acting legend Ed Asner and former U.S. Congressman Barney Frank.

Pence said the next event intends to be low key with a focus on giving back to local charities and senior programs at South Florida's Pride Center. Already, the group has donated $162,000 to Tuesday’s Angels, Pence said.

Day passes will be available for locals and nightly costume contests are being planned and choreographed. To book your room or for more information, visit
