Three new people are bringing their leadership, community connections, and experience to The Pride Center at Equality Park.

Dr. Bryan Curry, Solimar Rodriguez-Saez, Esq., and Alfredo Olvera are joining the Board of Directors.

“We are honored to welcome these transformative leaders, respected trailblazers in their respective professions and servants in the community, to our Board of Directors,” Board Chair Christopher Bates said. “Their passion-based commitment to community service is surely needed now as we continue planning for a post-COVID-19 world.”

Dr. Curry is a cardiologist in Aventura. In addition to his work at preventing cardiovascular disease, he also prioritizes health care disparities. A graduate of Howard University Medical School, he already serves on the Pride Center Governance Committee and has been involved in their BrothasSpeak FTL for four years.

“I learned about The Pride Center through my involvement with BrothasSpeak FTL and saw how The Center was committed to not only a safe space for the LGBTQ community, but the community-at-large. Many of our programs work towards health and wellness education in the LGBTQ community, and I wanted to be a part of that mission as health care disparities have been a focus of my career.”

Rodriguez-Saez runs her own legal practice in Fort Lauderdale and received her law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. She’s a visible member of the South Florida community, serving on Pride Center’s Governance Community. She also co-hosts a show called Juntas y Sueltas (Together and Unleashed) as well as working with Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, Rising Leaders Council, as well as Fort Lauderdale Hispanic Alliance.

Originally from Ecuador, Olvera is now a real estate agent in Fort Lauderdale. He has worked on the Human Rights Campaign South Florida’s Steering Committee and is president of the Dolphin Democrats. He’s spent the last four years working to connect the elected officials with the people they serve and helping candidates win elections.
