A child psychologist from Tennessee who admitted he transported and possessed child pornography at a Hollywood motel was sentenced Tuesday to nearly eight years in federal prison, court records show.

Richard Pitcock, 52, of Ashland City, Tenn., was arrested in August and later pleaded guilty to bringing child porn videos and images with him when he traveled to South Florida.

U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom sentenced him to seven years and 11 months in prison at a hearing in federal court in Miami. He must also serve 15 years of supervised release when he gets out of prison.

Pitcock resigned from his position as a child psychologist for the Cheatham County School District shortly after his arrest. He worked for the district since 1998, mainly evaluating special-needs students in grades K-12, authorities said.

Authorities found two videos and more than two dozen sexually explicit photographs of pre-teen boys on Pitcock's computer when he was arrested at motel on Michigan Street.
