On Wednesday, Feb 12, Equality Florida Institute will hold its first Annual Palm Beach Reception at 6:30 p.m. at Northern Trust, 11301 U.S. Highway One in North Palm Beach.
There will be an open bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
“We’ve been holding these events in other counties for several years,” said an agency spokesperson. “We’re excited to bring them to Palm Beach County.”
The reception will have a wedding theme to celebrate the progress that has been made in marriage equality and remind everyone that there’s still a long way to go.
Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida Institute will give a State of the State Address discussing how recent victories may impact the marriage equality lawsuit recently filed in Florida.
Two Palm Beach County advocates will be honored with Voice for Equality Awards recognizing their years of dedication to the cause of equality in the county.
Rand Hoch, Founder and President of Palm Beach County Human Rights Council (HRC), has been a trailblazer for LGBT equality in Palm Beach County for 25 years having founded the HRC in 1988.
Allan Hendricks, Equality Florida’s Palm Beach County Steering Committee Chair, has led the Palm Beach team since 2006 when he formed a MeetUp to connect Palm Beach to statewide advocacy efforts.
Awards will be made annually and are chosen by a steering committee.
