Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early morning blaze in a restaurant on North Federal Highway.

The fire at the Dapur Asian Tapas Restaurant and Lounge at 1620 N. Federal Hwy. was reported about 3:51 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.

Arriving crews were able to get the fire under control quickly, said Fire Rescue Capt. Greg May.

"It took about 15 to 20 minutes before they declared the fire was under control," he said. "It got knocked down petty quick but being that it was a restaurant it was kind of tough to move around inside of it."

The flames appeared to originate in the kitchen and storage area in the rear of the restaurant but the acrid odor of smoke went everywhere.

"There was a little bit of smoke in the neighboring units but nothing really damaging," May said.

The owner and an employee were surveying the damage about 8 a.m. as inspectors worked to figure out how the blaze started.

There were no injuries, he said.
