The safe space for Latino health has dethroned Pride Center as Broward’s Best Non-Profit.
Latinos Salud operates in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties with a mission to provide client-centered, culturally-competent health education and integrated preventive, screening, and linkage services.
“All us here at Latinos Salud are so appreciative of the community’s recognition," Executive Director, Stephen Fallon said. “The staff has been working this year, during the coronavirus crisis, and this show of support means so much."
Board Chair Franco Chevalier, MD, added “We are beyond grateful to be recognized for the works and efforts of all of our members who selflessly devote themselves to breaking barriers and making strides in ensuring healthcare gaps are bridged in our LGBTQ Latin community."
Co-founder and Director of Health Programs Rafaelé Narváez said, “This vote is very important to us, as it shows that we at Latinos Salud are doing what we are supposed to do, and that is acting in service to our community’s needs."
The Centers for Disease Control estimates 1.2 million people are living with HIV in the United States and of that population 14% do not know their status.
The organization celebrated 11 years earlier this year.
