Volunteers are needed for a South Florida organization that provides food, services and basic living essentials.

Poverello is in need of volunteers to deliver groceries to its vulnerable and sick clients. Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pietrogallo, in a video request, said Poverello serves around 2,000 clients living with HIV.

With the current COVID-19 pandemic, Pietrogallo acknowledged these are difficult times.

“We really need your help in getting ready for what may be a difficult time for all of us,” Pietrogallo said

Operating out of its Wilton Manors facility, Poverello provides food, exercise and a spacious thrift store to its clients and the public. Pietrogallo said his organization would train volunteers to deliver groceries in a safe way.

“We want them to be able to safely receive their food in their homes and we’d really like to see more volunteers in that pursuit,” Pietrogallo said, adding in previous times of crisis the community came together to ensure needs were met.
