More than 125 performers will “take it off” this weekend at the Paradise Live Theater at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to benefit Broward House, the county’s largest HIV/AIDS service organization.

On Friday, Aug. 19, Broward Bares It will offer a sexy evening of burlesque, music and comedy. Under the direction of former Miss Florida Nikki Adams and David Meulemans, this year’s theme is “Tantalizing Temptations, Titillating Temptresses and Torrid Testosterone,” featuring 24 acts.

“It will be tastefully naughty,” promises Adams, “with a lot of humor. We have two hours of really great acts, both national performers and local, and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit Broward House.”

Among the performers recruited by Adams and Meulemans to perform are the Men of LaBare, Dame Edna, Nelson Polanco, Debra Hampton, Tori Holden, Next Step Dance, C&J Productions, Bambi LaFleur and Angeliki Poularis. Local choreographer William Crowley of Next Step Dance created the glitzy opening and Adams says many more surprises are in store.

Preparations for the show began more than six months ago and organizers expect nearly 500 attendees. The goal for the evening is to raise $50,000, which Adams feels is attainable but fundraising and ticket sales have still fallen short.

“We’re certainly hopeful,” she says, noting a few tickets are still available from $25 each at BrowardBaresIt.com.

With 12 locations across Broward County, Broward House serves more than 6000 men, women and families with services ranging from housing to medical care. The organization rarely turns away a client, thanks to the support of the community.

“Last year was spectacular, but this year is going to be bombastic due to the caliber of talent that has come on board,” says Adams. “We’re able to accommodate a much larger audience at the Paradise Live this year and the show is going to have a Broadway atmosphere. This is definitely one event not to be missed!”
