Police in Iowa arrested a man for the 2002 murder of a Wilton Manors resident.
On Wednesday, 38-year-old Joshua Odom was taken into custody by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and charged with first-degree murder and theft. On April 4, 2002, Odom, detectives believe, robbed and murdered 70-year-old Richard Busey at his Wilton Manors apartment, 3000 N.E. Fifth Terrace.
In his confession to detectives, Odom, then a transient in Wilton Manors, admitted to going to Busey’s apartment for drinks and sex. Odom, police say, decided to rob and kill Busey in order to buy drugs.
Busey’s murder was investigated by the Wilton Manors Police Department but remained a mystery until Odom surfaced last month in Des Moines, Iowa and delivered a confession to police. Odom was arrested on Aug. 25.
