Riders of the 100% Bike Ride for Life were greeted with heartfelt enthusiasm by friends, relatives, sponsors and supporters at Georgie’s Alibi on Sunday, April 18. The torrential downpours did not diminish the reception as the riders returned. The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble played several rousing selections as the bikers entered Alibi. As the group received bouquets created by Mark Turner, photographer Pompano Bill was on hand to record the moment. Dan Blakemore, President of Tuesday’s Angels officially welcomed the bikers back. Raffle tickets were sold by dancers provided by Boarkwalk, and the raffle was emceed by the fabulous Cashetta.
This was the 14th 100% Solution Bike Ride to benefit Tuesday’s Angels, a local not-for-profit the provides emergency financial assistance to people with HIV/AIDS in Broward County. To date, the charity has raised over $900,000. This year, riders Chip Jones (Chairperson), Jerry Byers, Danny Marrs, Shawn McCormack, Raoul Pinho, and Steve Schmidt, have already received pledges of over $28,000. The 210 mile two day ride from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Pierce was especially grueling due to the rainy weather. An outstanding support team included Don Barlow, Anthony DeLacy, Michael Howell, Richard Leitner, Andrew Segaloff, and Cole Wolford. The chefs for the ride were Don Friedman and Rocky Sloannaker.
