Mason Bleu, 17, the valedictorian of his New York City high school class, came out as bisexual in his graduation speech.
He told CBS This Morninghe hadn’t decided he would come out until the moment came, and he didn’t submit that part of the speech to the school ahead of time. Nonetheless, Bleu got a standing ovation from his class.
“For a long time, I have struggled with my sexuality. I’ve dodged it and ignored it because I wasn’t proud of who I am,” Bleu said in his speech Saturday. “But today I’m changing that. I’m proud to be a bisexual man.”
Since posting his speech to Twitter, Bleu has grown his following from 14 to 3,000 people, and his speech has received nearly 1 million views.
