Transgender YouTuber Chase Ross is suing YouTube for allegedly demonitizing videos with “transgender” in the title.
Ross is part of a group of eight creators who filed a lawsuit against the company in California on Aug. 15, according to CBC. Ross said one of his videos documenting the five year anniversary of his surgery was flagged because “transgender” was in the title. Being demonetized means ads can’t run on the video.
"We are a group of LGBTQ creators that have had enough," Ross said, according to CBC. "It has been affecting us for years and I'm so glad we're going to be doing something about it, because after doing videos and talking with YouTube, nothing happened."
YouTube said in a statement that it doesn’t target LGBT content, CBC reported.
