Three of the world’s heavy hitting fashion houses are skipping New York Fashion Week in 2020. Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford are absent from the CFDA’s New York Fashion Week schedule.
Ford announced in December that he would show in Los Angeles saying, “There is truly no bigger or more prominent stage in the world at any given time than Los Angeles during the Academy Awards.”
Ford’s absence is amplified by the absence of two tent pole NYFW designers, Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger.
An RL spokesperson told Fashion Network that the label is “still reflecting on a possible event” while Tommy Hilfiger is expected to announce a new host city for his ongoing See Now Buy Now “TommyNow” program.
This shift comes on the heels of Kim Jones and Shawn Stussy delivering Dior’s Pre-Fall 2020 Runway presentation in Miami.
