Spa Review: Chi Asian Massage

Chi Asian Massage

Just off Wilton Drive, Chi Asian Massage offers you an invitation to unwind and relax, starting with a warm entrance embraced by a cup of herbal tea.

The hour-long massage that followed finished what the tea initiated. The interior is decorated with Thai art and antiques, and the massage room I was told to step into had a large, elegant Buddha hanging on the wall.

Owner Todd Stolfa and his partner Tom, who is the manager, opened the spa two years ago. “Todd would visit Thailand for 6 months, then return to the States. He was spoiled by the massages he became accustomed to there,” Tom told me. “We started looking around in Fort Lauderdale and couldn’t find a place doing exactly what we wanted so we decided to open one ourselves.”

Recently I treated myself to a Chi Mini Revitalize package. The package consists of a one hour Chi Massage, under the masterful hands of Bill.

“I do a combination of massages,” Bill said. “Thai, Swedish, and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi.”

He has been doing massage for over a decade and has even handled the sore muscles and aching backs of celebrities when they visit the Gold Coast.

My right ankle had been tight recently and I was thrilled to hear it pop under Bill’s masterful technique. It hasn’t bothered me since.

After the hour-long deep and revitalizing massage I was heartily rubbed down with a Sugar Scrub. My skin was exfoliated for 45 minutes with organic sugar flakes, and essential oils, scented with lemongrass and ginger.

Then, after a quick rinse off in the in-room shower my smooth skin was treated to a 30-minute body butter moisturizing process. My feet—as many people suffer from—are normally shall we say, not so soft. Since the exfoliation and body butter process my feet have been smooth and feel as if they are someone else’s.

The spa also offers “Nuad Pan Boran,” a traditional, intense Thai massage for which Chi is known. They also offer a Couple’s Massage, Five Elements Hot Stone Massage and Reflexology among other services.

“We have clients that come in once a week,” said Tom proudly as he handed me a hot towel, second cup of herbal tea and a multi-grain granola bar after my session was over. Make sure to schedule your massage on a day when you don’t have much to do. When I got back to SFGN offices I was glad it was Friday. I was almost too relaxed to work.
