It’s an easy equation, when you know your target market, go for it and never be bound by what you may perceive as limitations.

All too often, we allow our personal comfort zones to spread into our professional arena, a habit that can easily stunt business growth. Unless your service is specific for “Gay men over age 40” like “The Gay Man’s Matchmaker,” then there is no reason to only market in the gay community. And, even in such a narrow scenario, who’s to say that this straight suburban woman doesn’t have an awesome male friend, age 45 ready to be matched up with another awesome 40ish-old man! Likewise, if your product is not solely targeted for young straight women (and are there really any products like that anymore!), then you need to get out there and tell your story. The bottom line is gringos market in the Latino networks and the straight community is happy to join forces with gay and lesbian business owners.

So, now what? See and be seen!

Join in on the many networking opportunities offered by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce by visiting and by marking your calendars for weekly and monthly events. Women and men are conducting business, while building bridges at events such as Downtown Breakfast, Beach Council, Weston Power Luncheon, Circle of Fun, Las Americas, GLBX Monthly Mixers, Founders Circle, and Suits-Stilletos&Lipstick just to name a few. Be sure to attend a variety of leads groups, including the Gay Lesbian Business Exchange [GLBX] Referral Advantage, whose members pass concrete leads and completed business transaction testimonials at every meeting. The Gay and Lesbian Business Exchange [GLBX], a council of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, is Broward County’s premier support for Gay and Lesbian owned businesses as well as gay-friendly businesses.
