On behalf of my fellow board members, may I congratulate you on producing weekly issues of the South Florida Gay News that are both informative and entertaining, especially, the October 10th ‘Senior Edition.”
However, in your listings on page 31, of the ‘Senior Edition,’ under the heading; ‘The Selected LGBT Senior Events/Groups in South Florida,’ I noticed there was no mention of – SAGE of South Florida – an organization that, in 2019, will be celebrating 25 years of enriching the lives of the elderly LGBTQ communities in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
SAGE (Senior Action in a Gay Environment) of South Florida has been presenting programs to combat loneliness, helplessness and boredom in the Elderly LGBTQ community with the following programs: Weekly ‘Men’s Drop-in’ Meetings; Weekly Computer Classes; Weekly SAGE on the Border Co-Ed/Alternatives Meetings in Boca Raton, as well as, Monthly Member Dinners; Monthly ‘Men’s Night Out’ Meetings; Monthly Lunch and Learn Meetings; Monthly ‘Book Club Meetings:’ Monthly Women’s Lunches; A Monthly Film Series; Quarterly Cultural Musical Events; An Annual Birthday Celebration for members who have attained age 75, 80, 85, and 90 plus, and just added this year, a Monthly SAGE/Pride Center First Run Film Series in partnership with the Pride Center.
For more information on SAGE of South Florida and any of its programs your readers are asked to please visit: www.sagewebsite.org – Facebook: SageOfSouthFloridaInc or by calling: 954-634-7219
I trust you will inform your readers of this omission so that a more complete listing of what is available to the Elderly LGBTQ community in South Florida is made available to them.
