You might think from that headline that this column is about politics, but it’s not. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner (March 17) and at this time of year, everybody’s a little bit Irish. That includes the hospitality industry, and there are plenty of places that will be decked out in green and offering Irish American favorites.

Or, celebrate the Emerald Isle with Hollywood’s St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival on Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday, March 15! Each year the City of Hollywood and Hibernians of Hollywood team up to host this annual celebration of "all things Irish." This year’s parade and festival will run from noon to 6 p.m. The parade begins at 1 p.m. and will take place on Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street between 19th and 21st Avenues. The parade features dozens of floats, local marching bands and spectacular bagpipe and drum corps! A U2 tribute show will take place on the stage, and downtown restaurants will be offering festival specials including Irish favorites such as corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie and green-colored drinks!

The Betsy-South Beach has introduced its own proprietary beer, the Betsy Rosa. The beverage is named for The Betsy’s two golden retriever “CEOs” (Canine Executive Officers) Betsy and Rosa and is served exclusively at The Betsy. The hotel is welcoming the creators of the lager for a master class to be held on St. Patrick’s Day from 6-7:30 p.m. Todd H. Space, from Miami’s Master Brewer Academy, will take beer lovers on a journey for the taste buds. Starting at the preparation of the malt, through the fermentation and filtration process, to bottling and delivery, the guided tour of process will highlight the beer’s notes of lemon zest, fresh baked bread and allspice, with hints of honey and herbal hops. While sampling the libation, guests will enjoy a variety of snacks. The event will be held at the hotel’s Carlton Café. Admission is $32, which includes bottomless Betsy Rosa beer and nibbles.
