If you’re tired of only seeing queer-coded Marvel characters, you’re in luck: at least two full-blown openly LGBT characters are coming soon.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed in an interview with The Playlist that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will get it’s first out LGBT character. The publication asked, “When are we getting a Gay, Bi, LGBTQ, out character in the MCU? Is it even in the works?”
Feige kept his response short and simple: “Yes.”
When asked if it was a character we haven’t seen yet, he clarified by saying “Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen” — meaning we already have at least one LGBT character in the films that were not already explicitly stated, and at least one more coming up.
This may be in reference to Valkyrie, superhero badass from “Thor: Ragnarok” who was bisexual in the comics. In the film, she was meant to have a brief scene with a same-sex encounter, but it was scrapped from the final film because it was a “distraction” according to the Rolling Stone.
