People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Men’ List Features Trans Man for the First Time

People Magazine released their roster for this year’s sexiest men and for the first time ever the list featured a transgender man.

Brian Michael Smith, star of “9-1-1: Lone Star,” graced this year’s list to the excitement of many fans.

“I've been called many things," but "this is a first," said Smith in an Instagram post.

He added that was “incredibly honored” to have made the list.

Smith plays a transgender firefighter named Paul Strickland making him the first out Black trans man in a recurring network TV role. He has also appeared on “Girls, Homeland,” and “The L Word: Generation Q.” Smith is a strong advocate for trans representation and continues to support the cause.

“I worked with young people at the LGBT Center and I just saw how important it was for young LGBT people, no matter where they were in their experience, to see what is down the road for them," Smith told NBC Out. "It’s really important to me to be visible in my work.”

Beth Robinson Becomes First Lesbian to Serve on Federal Circuit Court

Justice Beth Robinson was confirmed into the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit making her the first openly lesbian woman to be confirmed to a federal circuit court. In a 51-45 vote, the Senate voted to confirm Robinson.

“She would be the very first openly gay woman to serve not just in the Second Circuit, but in any federal circuit court in the country — another barrier torn down in the halls of justice. We are proud of tearing down those barriers and making the bench more inclusive and more like America," said Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

NPR reported that only 13 federal judgeships are currently held by gay or lesbian judges and there has never been a transgender or bisexual nominee. Robinson is getting praise from all levels of government for this trailblazing accomplishment.

On Twitter, Bernie Sanders wrote, "I want to congratulate Vermont Supreme Court Justice Beth Robinson for her momentous confirmation today to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Thank you for your continued service. I know you will make Vermont proud and will be an excellent addition to the federal bench."

Lady Gaga Reveals ‘Poker Face’ is About the Bisexual Experience

Lady Gaga brought back the conversation this week that her iconic song “Poker Face,” which was released in 2008, is an ode to bisexuality.

The Grammy Award-winning star said the song is about “poker facing with your sexuality.” Back in 2009 she told Jonathan Ross that she wrote the song because she would often think about women while having sex with her boyfriend. Since then, Gaga has come out as bisexual.

“You know what? It’s not a lie that I am bisexual and I like women, and anyone that wants to twist this into ‘she says she’s bisexual for marketing,’ this is a f**king lie. This is who I am and who I have always been,” said Gaga at her album release party.

The pop star’s music has served as theme songs for the LGBT community and she continues to be an advocate for equal rights.
