Billy Dee Williams, 82, who played Lando Calrissian in Star Wars, came out as gender fluid in an interview with Esquire.
When the Esquire interviewer mentioned that Donald Glover mentioned playing the young Lando with that kind of gender fluidity in mind, Williams said he’s “brilliant.” While talking about his style and his idea of what “cool” means, Williams told Esquire he self-identifies with both feminine and masculine pronouns.
“And you see I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine. I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself,” Williams told Esquire.
Williams is set to return to his role as Lando in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker this month.
