Restaurant Burger

Rosie's Bar & Grill
2449 Wilton Dr,
Wilton Manors

rosysbarandgrill

Give the people what they want and they’llcome back again and again.

That’s why Rosie’s captures the titles of Best Restaurantand Best Burger for the umpteenth year in a row.

But Rosie’s is more than just the burgers, (although there are 3 dozen varieties) check out the salads, fish tacos and yummy desserts. And don’t even get me started on brunch, with such classics as chicken and waffles, crab cakes and, of course eggs and omelets served dozens of ways, plus an assortment of burgers.

And you can’t leave brunch without licking Rosie’s balls (donuts). The servers are sassy and sexy and the atmosphere is laid back fun and gay AF.

What more could you want?

As Marilyn B. said, “I love the extensive menu and atmosphere… I can't wait to go back! This place has something for everyone.”

A new set of owners, a new look, same loyal crowd.

While the Friday cocktail hour and amazing entertainment get most of the attention, the dining room has been keeping its loyal clientele and building an entirely new crowd, thanks to friendly servers like Jaimie and Frankie and crowd-pleasing favorites on the menu. Happy hour features the cheapest drinks in town and the Monday through Thursday early-bird specials including home-cooked favorites such as eggplant parmesan, roasted chicken, meatloaf and lasagna are only $12.95.

Customer Marqus sums it up with, “Hooray and hallelujah! Tropics is back, reborn again in the new, better and revised form of Tropics Grille.”

Can it still be a secret after sweeping the same category for so many years?

Apparently so!

The tiny dining spot with its romantic patio and French/Italian fusion fare chugs along like the little engine that could.

“When you visit Le Patio, you're in for a treat. Experience its famous French onion soup, house made Lasagna, shepherds pie and any of its other mouthwatering dishes,” the business owners write on Yelp.

The escargot will win over even the most finicky eater.

Vero and Jean are renowned for their creative combinations of spices and sauces. The warm and charming atmosphere will instantly relax you while they dote on you like two of your favorite aunts.

“The ambiance outside is really nice with all the greenery and very low lighting,” one Yelp reviewer said. Another added: “Le Patio is hidden away off of Wilton Dr. where if you aren't looking, you would walk right past. This makes it even more intriguing.”

Maybe that’s why it’s still Wilton Manors’ Best Kept Secret even after all of these years.

Weekly menu specials offer unique flavors and pairings, and the menu is vegetarian friendly.

Ice Cream/Gelato

Wilton Creamery
2301 Wilton Dr # C4,

wiltoncreambestof2019

The beautiful loft space offers two levels as well as outdoor seating. The decor has an industrial-meets-50's vibe.

All of the ice creams, gelato and sorbet are chef curated, with

seasonal and rotating flavors of ice cream such as pecan praline dulce, sea salt caramel, sweet cinnamon, strong coffee, triple rum raisin, Snickers adjacent, Christopher loves chocolate, and its most popular flavor "He's Not Worth It” (you really must try Shampoo when its available).

You wont be disappointed by the wide variety of small batch artisanal offerings at our home-town favorite. There are dairy-free, sugar-free, vegan and even dog-friendly options.

The only thing they could do to be more accommodating is to serve it to me in bed (just a suggestion, guys).

Sometimes the competition is not even a fair fight, such as in this category. How can any place else hope to win when Stork’s does desserts so perfectly?

“Storks is home to my favorite cake in all of the land. The chocolate decadence cake. It is an amazing chocolate flourless cake that is extremely rich and will satisfy any chocolate lovers dream,” one reviewer on Yelp writes.

No matter if you choose a hearty coffeecake, delicate layer cake or French pastry, it will be dome to perfection and served with the best coffee this side of heaven.

“Unable to decide between the chocolate chip scone and the sticky bun...naturally I got them both. Their scones aren't just good, they are the best I've ever had! And I've tried many,” another reviewer on Yelp wrote. “The sticky bun made me want to get up and dance and sing.”

Storks has been a local Wilton Manors favorite since 1997. Those who think of it as “just a coffee shop” couldn’t be more wrong.

While Stork’s features 8 types of coffee each day, as well as a vast array of teas, smoothies, cappuccinos and lattes, served iced or hot, it also offers breakfast, lunch and dinner items to eat in or take home.

The food has Mediterranean flair. Stork’s also has a very successful catering department. Stork’s is also known for supporting several local non-profit organizations.

“This is a small family owned place that provides a good product, good service and at a good price,” wrote one reviewer on Yelp. Another reviewer added: “It's the quintessential ballpark food. No thrills, no fuss, just dogs and fries the way the hotdog God's intended it. Amen!”

Ethnic Food

Ethos
2055 Wilton Dr.
Wilton Manors
EthosBistro.com

ethosbestof2019

If I had to pick one kind of ethnic food to eat, it would be the food of the Mediterranean and if I had to pick the finest example of that food it would be one of the platters from Ethos Grill.

The Wilton Manors outpost of the popular Coconut Creek spot is one of the most popular restaurants in town. Of course, it’s the food, but the charming and handsome wait staff don’t hurt either.

Check out the special early bird three-course menu for $18 every day until 6, featuring a choice of appetizer (Greek or Ethos salad or hummus and pita) a choice of Main Course (gyros, chicken artichoke, kefte, zucchini croquettes, falafel, salmon or shrimp saganaki among others) and a choice of baklava or ekberry for dessert.

Sometimes you just want a meal like Mom would have made, if she knew how to cook.

Courtyard dishes up classic diner fare - you want two eggs over easy and a side of bacon? No problem. You want a meatloaf dinner with lumpy mashed potatoes? They’ve got that too.

Just about anything you might get in Mom’s kitchen you can order at Courtyard. Monday night is “Burger Madness” with free soda or iced teas with each burger, and most of those burgers are priced less than $10, and that’s with a large amount of fries!

That’s about $5 less than you’ll pay for a similar burger elsewhere on the drive. Other days features  such enticements as 2 for 1 dinners, and package deals And you can get it late, after a night at the bars, Courtyard is open until 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 24 hours on the weekend, until 3 in the morning Sunday.

“I was amazed at how delicious their breakfast was. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese sandwich, as well as the breakfast quesadilla. The quesadilla was huge and I could only eat half of it. The food was cooked to order, came out piping hot, and was delicious,” wrote one reviewer on Yelp. “The owner stood at the counter the entire time and was extremely attentive checking on all of us constantly as we ate. You can really feel that they appreciate your business here, and you're not just another customer.”

Vegan

Milk Money Bar & Kitchen
815 NE 13th St,
Fort Lauderdale
MilkMoneyBar.com

milkmoneybestof2019

Nestled along the newly revitalized 13th Street … hell, it is the reason 13th Street is revitalized! Milk Money is not a vegan restaurant, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have plenty of offerings for those who follow a plant-based diet.

At breakfast check out the scrambled tofu with broccoli and onion. For lunch there are dozens of options, but the crispy Buffalo cauliflower is a winner and the Impossible burger or vegan BLT are good options for dinner.

Tuesdays is the day the menu becomes even more veg-centric. The restaurant hares its space with the popular Warsaw Coffee so it’s a great place to hang out during the day. In fact, it’s the place for hipsters to hangout during the day.

“As a vegan, I was so impressed by the many vegan options,” wrote one reviewer on Yelp. “I personally had the tofu scramble and it was delicious!”

Pizza

Bona Italian Pizza

 2468 Wilton Dr,
Wilton Manors, FL 33305
954-565-7222
BonaItalian.com

bonabestof2019

In a bit of an upset, Bona takes the pizza category.

Although best known for its magnificent pastas, Bonas pizza has developed quite a devoted following. Its a hybrid of Midwest and New York style pizzas. The crust is just a tad sturdier than the East coast style, but still tender enough to fold in half.

We are thrilled that in 3 years owning Bona that we are being recognized by the community for a favorite place for pizza in Wilton Manors,” said owner Glen Weinzimer.

With a variety of toppings to please just about everyone, you can make the entire table happy.

Customer Robert D. said, “This is my go-to spot for comfort food with family. Glen and Mark have been making improvements to the food, service and the dining room very carefully since taking over.” Another diner, Bresida J. said, “The pepperoni pizza was very fresh and tasted great!”
