FAT Village painter Alfred Phillips’ works are familiar to South Florida art aficionados: He’s won Best of Show awards at shows from Key West to Palm Beach, including exhibits at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale and ArtsUnited’s Art Explosion.

On Friday, August 24, the Kentucky native’s paintings will be offered in a special no-reserve auction by NAC Gallery, 3325 NE 32nd St. in Fort Lauderdale’s emerging North Beach Arts and Design District. A reception will be held at the gallery at 7 p.m. followed by the auction at 8:30 p.m.

NAC Gallery director Vincent Harrison also plans to exhibit Phillips’ paintings at several upcoming international art fairs. Harrison said, “We’re especially excited about a new series of work that is going to get Alfred recognized nationwide. We took him on recently and have achieved prices that are three-times higher than just a few weeks earlier.”

Harrison says the no-reserve auction will provide aspiring collectors with a rare opportunity to purchase the paintings of a rising artist before the market forces prices higher.
