I guess it only makes sense 60-year-old Broadway star and Olympic gymnast Cathy Rigby is still playing the part of the boy that never grew up: Peter Pan.
Even at her age Rigby still looks the part and shows that she still hasn’t grown up. She first appeared as Peter Pan on Broadway in 1990 and has since reprised her role several times.
“I was blown away by her. It was so heartwarming. I’m amazed at the things she can do at 60-years-old. Her performance was filled with gymnastics in the air and on the stage,” said Delray Beach resident Jeffrey Wolmetz, who saw Rigby 20 years ago as Peter Pan.
“She is the perfect person to play the part of Peter Pan, because she is Peter Pan. She’s just as good, if not better, than she was 20 years ago.”
While the rest of the cast does an excellent job, its Rigby’s passion, energy and enthusiasm that makes the musical outstanding and truly magical.
“After seeing Peter Pan you will believe in fairies,” Wolmetz said.
The classic tale is playing through Aug. 5 at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach.
Show times include 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25.
