  • Column: PrideFest Returns to the Palm Beaches

    As the sun rose over the intracoastal waters of Bryant Park, tents were being set up, gates put in place and police officers were getting situated with their coffees. Early Saturday morning is when the Annual PrideFest of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches begins to take form. Our day starts at 6 a.m., and the finishing touches on the stage, vendor booths, tables, fences and signs all happen before the birds start chirping and the fish start jumping.

  • Ladies of the 80s to Rock Pride Fort Lauderdale 2014

    Some of the biggest names in music from the 1980’s will be in Fort Lauderdale to celebrate Pride. Headliners include Sheena Easton, Lisa Lisa and Tiffany. The 37th annual Pride South Florida event takes place noon to 7 p.m., March 1and 2 at Holiday Park, 1150 G. Harold Martin Drive?Fort Lauderdale. This year they’ve renamed the event Pride Fort Lauderdale.

    These are just three of the words being used against Marc Hansen, the long time co-chair of Pride One of Broward County (better known as Pride South Florida and Pride Fort Lauderdale). Hansen, according to back and forth emails among board members, has in turn resigned.

    As Palm Beach County steadily approaches it's 21st annual PrideFest weekend, local residents prepare for this year's decorative theme of “Fanta-Sea” to represent the city’s close proximity and relationship with the beach. The event be held at Bryant Park Saturday March 29 and 30 in Lake Worth from noon to 6 p.m.
