They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky, The Addams Family. The show is a Broadway adaptation of the cult ’60s TV series. Jump into the deliriously funny world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma and Pugsley as they make sense of Wednesday’s surprise announcement: She’s getting married and her future in-laws are planning to show up for dinner! It’s an evening of macabre madness for everyone, so come meet the family.
Based on the New Yorker cartoons by Charles Addams, the slightly macabre family became a part of pop culture thanks to the kitschy ‘60s sitcom starring John Astin and Carolyn Jones. The musical incarnation by Broadway veterans Marshall Brickman, Rick Elice and Andrew Lippa, opened on Broadway in 2010 starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth to harsh reviews, but the show was reworked and the resulting production went on tour.
Addams’ characters are all there: Gomez and Morticia, Uncle Fester and Grandma, Wednesday and Pugsley, and butler Lurch. Thing, the disembodied hand, and Cousin It also make appearances.
