HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) _ Police in the Portland suburb of Hillsboro say two men were out walking a pink poodle when a stranger reportedly pulled a U-turn, jumped out of his vehicle and hit one of them in the head with a wrench.

Investigators are working to determine whether the Friday afternoon incident could be a bias crime because the attacker reportedly shouted a homosexual epithet.

Police spokesman Mike Rouches says the stranger was driving a late 90s Land Rover.

Rouches says the victim, a 26-year-old man, suffered a bump to the back of his head but did not require medical treatment.

Police are looking for a man in his 30s with a thin build, wearing a baseball hat and a khaki vest.
