There’ll be no Tebowing in Texas for a while!
Tim Tebow has decided he can’t hang with a fiery Texas preacher whose anti-gay stance made him a controversial figure!
The NFL QB was scheduled to speak in a megachurch in Dallas in April but bowed out after finding out what Pastor Robert Jeffress, his would-be host, said about gays and other religions.
Here’s what Tebow wrote on Twitter this morning: “While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ’s unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel by upcoming appearance.
“I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!”
What’s with Jeffress that even Tebow can’t deal with?
For one thing, the pastor has extreme beliefs on other religions.
“Islam is wrong, it is a heresy from the pit of Hell; Mormonism is wrong, it is a heresy from the pit of Hell; Judaism, you can’t be saved being a Jew,” Jeffress once said.
But when it comes to gays, Jeffress’ words can be downright nasty.
“Homosexuality,” he once professed, “represents a degradation of a person’s mind.”
He also claimed that 70 percent of gays have AIDS!
Church officials this a.m. said the press is to blame for Tebow’s move, claiming that Jeffress’ words were taken out of context!
