If it’s 5 p.m. on Friday, that means it’s time to start the weekend, and what better way than to kick it off at “Friday’s Cocktail Mixer” at the LGBT Visitor Center. Every Friday, the Visitor Center hosts a free happy hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., that encourages hotels to send their guests, and invites locals to meet visitors in town to mix, mingle and make new friends.
Each week a different venue offers to keep the party going and provides an incentive for folks to come by after the happy with a free drink, reduced dinner prices, etc. you never know! The happy hour has drawn visitors as well as repeat local guests who admit it’s a nice way to meet new people in a safe and welcoming environment and you can’t beat the price. Half the fun of travel is making new connections and sometimes we forget we live in a world class destination that people all over the world flock to on a daily basis. Getting to meet them makes it that much more fun to live here.
In early March, the newest art installation, “We Do, Too, will make its debut. “We Do, Too,” an exhibition of gay and lesbian wedding photographs will be on display at the LGBT Visitors Center March 4 through May 3. Haring Miami will celebrate the extraordinary contributions to the art world by renowned artist Keith Haring and friends. This first of its kind exhibit will take place March 6 to 10 in Miami’s own architectural gem, The Moore Building. The museum-level collection will feature over 200 pieces from Haring’s prolific career. The Moore Building is located at 4040 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33137.
Keith Haring is one of the most well-known and iconic artists of the twentieth century. By hieroglyphically expressing concepts of death, birth, war, and sex, his imagery has become one of the most widely recognized visual languages of the 20th century.
This exhibition will provide viewers with an unparalleled exposure to this master on a scale unavailable outside of the major museums of the world encompassing more than 200 works. The Moore Building is the perfect location for such an exhibition due to its location in the heart of Miami’s famed Design District. It has been host to many top events including Dali Miami 2012; a world class collection of Salvador Dali. This historic venue was built in 1921 and is one of the most iconic spaces in all of Miami.
