If you’re a regular on the drive and haven’t been to Angel’s Café yet, we’re not quite sure what you’re waiting for.

Maybe you didn’t realize there’s a cabaret show every Sunday. Maybe you didn’t hear they have buy one, get one free dinners on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Maybe you went on a Monday, not realizing they’re closed. That’s ok. Angel and his staff are ready for you.

When you walk into Angel’s, you may be not be aware that the gold, burgundy and black color scheme are modeled from The Rubens at the Palace hotel in London. But you will notice the influx of angels scattered throughout the dining room. It’s the little things – like the fresh flowers on every table –that showcase the quaintness of Angel’s.

The eclectic design and varied menu come from Angel’s desire to create a mix of American, French and Italian taste – many of the pasta dishes are popular as well. The diversity of the menu offers something for everyone. If you’re not into the shrimp scampi, you can always get a cheeseburger!

Ask your server about the specials. On a recent visit, we enjoyed Argentinian steak with a homemade Chimichurri sauce, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. All steaks are prime Angus beef. Angel mentioned the steaks are some of the most popular dishes.

The real delight is the Endive salad – mixed greens topped with Bleu cheese crumbles, dried cranberries, honey-coated toasted walnuts, onions, and drizzled with homemade raspberry dressing. It’s like candy on a salad, which is what we’ve always wanted a salad to taste like, right?

Save room for one of the homemade desserts, like the strawberry shortcake or the apple raisin crumble. Or get the peach “pop-up,” Angel’s take on a peach cobbler. Add some ice cream – we chose the vanilla strawberry – to the warm dessert. It’s decadent.

The bold décor and the varied menu make Angel’s a delicious piece of heaven.

Be sure to stop by for breakfast or even an evening nosh – Angel’s is open 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Visit on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and stay for a show – Sundays are cabaret.
