Survey to Help LGBT Seniors
SunServe, in conjunction with the Aging Institute at Florida Atlantic University, is doing a survey of South Florida LGBT Seniors, and their caregivers. This survey will help SunServe to determine the needs of LGBT seniors and their caregivers as they face the daily challenges of aging, now and more importantly, into the future. “The greater Fort Lauderdale area has a large population of older LGBT residents, and increasingly, we are getting calls for help. These folks, of all economic backgrounds, do not want to go back into the closet. SunServe is researching how our community would like to have services delivered,” said Mark Ketcham, Executive Director.
Please take a moment and go to SUNSERVE.ORG/SENIORS to take the anonymous survey. There is one for seniors, and one for their caregivers. Do one or both, and it takes about 1 minute to complete. The more data—the better, so please share this with your friends. We will finish data collection on October 31, 2011.
SunServe provides high quality services to the LGBT community; the Noble A. McArtor Senior Center, Individual and Group Mental Health Services, and a Suicide Prevention and Esteem Building program for Broward’s LGBTQ youth.
