Pro-Gay Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos Would ‘Love To’ Open Physical Stores
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon.com, says the company would "love to" open physical stores - if they could find a way of making them unique.
Bezos founded Amazon.com in 1994. Earlier this year, he and his wife donated $2.5 million to help pass Marriage Equality in Washington state.
Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer, constantly reshaping how consumers shop online.
“We want to do something that is uniquely Amazon,” said Bezos. “If we can find that idea – and we haven’t found it yet – but if we can find that idea, we would love to open physical stores.”
The advent of internet shopping has caused many companies, both large and small, to either fail or dramatically rethink how their business operates. Retailers like Best Buy have been shutting stores as other stores try to find a balance between increasing online sales without hurting physical stores.
Like the path of the print magazine, many companies are choosing to scale back on physical locations, channeling more growth and revenue potential into their online sales.
“The question we would always have before we would embark on such a thing is ‘what’s the idea?’” Bezos told the Charlie Rose program. “What would we do that would be different? How would it be better?”
Jeff Bezos and his wife donated $2.5 million to the fight to approve Marriage Equality in Washington earlier this year.
What do you think? Should Amazon expand to physical stores?
