Michele’s Dining Lounge
Despite only two years up and running, Michele’s Dining Lounge has already managed to make their mark as one of Fort Lauderdale’s best dining experiences.
When you walk in, don’t be surprised if you see manager Mickey Havens behind the piano or on the microphone. There’s live entertainment every night sans Sunday (they’re closed). When Mickey is done performing, he may stop by your table and inquire what you ordered.
If you haven’t gotten that far, he may suggest the handcrafted meatball ($10) or mussels ($12) – both are two of the most popular appetizers. Another is the fried calamari ($11) – lightly breaded and served with marinara. Don’t ignore the hot peppers; scoop one up with a bite of squid. The extra kick is worth it.
Indulge in the wine list, like the Primal Roots Red Blend from California or the Italian Corvo Moscato. Inquire about the craft beer selections, too. Don’t miss Happy Hour Monday-Friday, 5-8 p.m. for half-priced house wines and well cocktails.
If you’re on time, enjoy the Two For Special – buy one entrée off a select menu, get another entrée of equal or lesser value for free, Monday and Tuesday from 5-10 p.m. and Wednesday-Saturday, 5-7 p.m. Choices include a tender prime rib served with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes ($36), Grandma’s Lasagna ($28), and even the fresh catch ($30). While the fresh catch normally changes daily, one of the best ones in the rotation is the seafood shepherd’s pie – shrimp, lobster, scallops, spinach, roasted corn, red peppers, zucchini, and truffled mashed potatoes topped with two asparagus spears. If you haven’t experienced true happiness, you will once you eat this.
While Michele’s specializes in excellent steaks and fresh seafood, don’t skip dessert. For your chocolate fix, order the cupcake brownie or get favorites like tiramisu or crème brulee. A guest favorite, the bread pudding, will make you forget every single bread pudding in the history of bread puddings. Made with Challah bread, almonds, chocolate chips and topped with raspberry syrup, you’ll forgive all other impostures and may be inclined to share the recipe with relatives this holiday season.
If you’re just stopping by for evening drinks, make sure it’s on Monday for Boys Night Out. With $6 Grey Goose martinis, Two For Specials, and giveaways for spa visits and other goodies, your disdain for Mondays will soon be delightful.
Michele’s also hosts private parties and any event imaginable. Inquire about commitment ceremonies or even divorce parties and don’t be afraid to craft a menu to your liking. Whether you’re dropping in for a dinner date or after work cocktails, Michele’s Dining Lounge has the food, drinks, and atmosphere for it all.
