Virgin Atlantic recently announced they will offer a “Pride Flight” next year that will be staffed entirely by LGBT people.
According to airline’s website they are going to add a healthy dose of flamboyance to its trademark flight with the UK’s first Pride Flight between London and New York for World Pride 2019
The flights will include special on-board entertainment including an on-board DJ, Drag Queen Bingo, a Judy Garland sing-along, inter-seat speed dating and special in-flight entertainment.
“We’re not the type of company to mark an occasion like this half-heartedly and we’re going to be pulling out all the stops to ensure the Pride Flight is delivered with a large serving of Virgin flair,” Mark Anderson, Executive Vice President at Virgin Atlantic, said in a prepared statement. “‘We take our commitments to diversity and inclusion seriously, but you can rest assured we have a lot of fun along the way. This is going to be a show-stopping, ground-breaking, one-of-a-kind experience that we can’t wait to bring to the skies next June.”
According to CNN, Tituss Burgess, a Broadway star known for his role in the Netflix show "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," will oversee the entertainment on the flight.
"At a time when we're seeing the rights of minority groups under threat, it is more important than ever we stand up and make our voices heard," Burgess told CNN.
The flight will depart from London Heathrow on Friday June 28 and fly directly to New York’s Newark Airport.
