KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) - A Ugandan court has ordered the deportation of a British man who faced criminal charges following publication of images of him having sex with another man.

Ugandan police commander Edgar Nyabongo said Wednesday that Bernard Randall likely would be flown out Thursday after a magistrate ordered his immediate deportation. A decision had not yet been reached in the case against Randall, 65, who last year was charged with trafficking in obscene material.

His laptop computer was stolen from his home and then photos on the computer were sent to a Ugandan newspaper that published them. That led to the charges.

Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda, where lawmakers recently passed a draconian new bill that prescribes life imprisonment for "aggravated" homosexual acts. The bill awaits the signature of the president.
