A transgender man and a friend attended a gay bath house called Sailors Sauna in east London.
Another customer notified the staff that a “woman was using the venue,” according to the Telegraph. The staff then asked him to leave, the man said, “because of my genitals.”
Sailors Sauna then issued a statement, addressing criticism on their decision to ask him to leave.
"I understand that the gentleman was male, however his physical gender was different and as a customer had already stated that a female was using the venue, I explained that I would need to clarify with the council,” they said.
After clarifying with the council they’re licensed under, the staff admitted they were wrong to kick the customer out.
The man does not intend to sue, because he doesn’t want to shut down a gay space, though he is protected under a the Equality Act of 2010.
