A North Carolina Republican representative is reacting to rumors that "American Idol" star Clay Aiken will run for Congress, Raleigh’s NewsObserver.com reports.
Rep. Renee Ellmers told North Carolina radio station 105.9 WMAL recently her thoughts on Aiken’s alleged political endeavors.
"Apparently, his performing career is not going so well. He’s very bored. I’ll tell you, I’m a little hurt. I think he has an incredible voice and he’s incredibly talented, and I’d rather have his support,” she said. "As we know, he didn’t really fare all that well. He was runner-up. He also didn’t win on ["Celebrity Apprentice"].. so I guess the next step is Congress. You know, we don’t have a very high approval rating so I guess the bar’s been lowered for him."
Dozens Arrested in Idaho
Police in Boise, Idaho have arrested dozens of gay rights activists, saying their protest blocked entrances to the Idaho Senate chambers for more than two hours.
Idaho State Police say they took 43 people into custody Monday after the demonstrators stood shoulder to shoulder and prevented lawmakers from getting past.
Former state senator Nicole LeFavour, the Idaho Legislature's first openly gay lawmaker and an organizer of the protest, had said the group would block the entrances until lawmakers agreed to take up a bill adding protections for gay and transgender people to the Idaho Human Rights Act.
Russia Bans Gay Hook-up App
Dmitry T., founder of Hunters, the most popular Russian gay hook-up app, says his creation has been comprised. Dmitry posted on his Facebook page that sometime around February 1, a hacker attacked the app which, consequently, affected all its users in the Russian Federation. Once in Sochi, the app was completely shut down.
"I can’t believe it! Last night Hunters was hacked. This attack affected over 72,000 users in Russia, while in Sochi the app was completely blocked.
The Hunters app, with over 1.2M users worldwide, enables gay guys not only to hook-up but to also find homes, friends and jobs, which is particularly important for gay people in Russia and around the world.
Houston Mayor Marries Longtime Partner

She's the first openly gay mayor of a major U.S. city. "We have had to wait a very long time to formalize our commitment to each other. Kathy has been by my side for more than two decades, helping to raise a family, nurture my political career and all of the other ups and down and life events that come with a committed relationship."
