In March of 2017, Coconut Grove-based Grass River Property announced plans to possibly build a hotel at the Shoppes of Wilton Manors.
But now, a hotel in the near future seems less like a possibility. “My partners and I desperately want to build a hotel on the property,” said George Spillis, of Coconut Grove-based Grass River Property, last year. At that time, Spillis said the plan was to build a hotel with 120 to 125 rooms.
At a recent Central Area Neighborhood Association [CANA] meeting, Grass River developers said they were putting the hotel on hold, but had plans to construct a building on the corner of Wilton Drive and Northeast 7 Avenue, and make some improvements to the shopping center’s façade. That’s according to Paul Rolli, president of CANA. Multiple messages left with Grass River were not returned.
The Shoppes of Wilton Manors is currently owned by High Acres Tic, LLC.
