The Gazette has hired Sallie James, a veteran reporter, to take over for Michael d’Oliveria, who was recently hired as the new Editor in Chief of the Pelican.

James has decades of experience covering municipal government. In the past she’s worked for the Sun Sentinel and Palm Beach Post. She currently freelances for multiple publications, is a blogger for the automotive industry, and a writer for Miami Jewish Health.

“While we are sad to see Michael leave us, we are excited to bring Sallie on board,” said SFGN Executive Editor Jason Parsley. “Her experience covering local government is perfect for the Gazette. We’ve already discussed new ways to broaden our coverage.”

James will start later this month.
