In person early voting in Wilton Manors is up 86 percent over the last midterm election cycle in 2014. Early voting ended on Saturday.
Close to 8,500 people have voted at Wilton Manors City Hall whereas in 2014, 4,566 early voted in the city.
Across the country early voting is also way up this election cycle. More than 30 million ballots have already been cast compared to about 27 million in 2014. In Florida the totals are up 150 percent according to Michael P. McDonald, an associate professor of political science at the University of Florida who tracks early voting. In some states the early voting totals have approached 2016’s numbers.
However, in Wilton Manors the in person early voting is down compared to 2016 when 11,400 people voted in person at City Hall.
