The Stingers, an LGBTQ Australian water polo team, has made a new "shade video" riffing on a RuPaul song that lets other teams know who's gonna be boss at the upcoming Gay Games in Paris.
One True Voice reported on the video, in which the Stingers strip down to their swim trunks and perform a song and dance, with the iconic Sydney Opera house in the background.
"Ivan Buckingham created the video along with the Sydney Stingers Paris Gay Games Planning Committee," One True Voice reported. "Stingers' members Nathen Brown and Nicola Ghirardi also helped out."
Gay Star News reported that the team took a "Village People" type approach, with Buckingham telling the online publication, "We really wanted to be quintessentially Aussie so the characters are: A surfer/lifesaver, Aerobics Oz-Style, Kylie Minogue, Crocodile Dundee, and a kind of leather/cub cliché."
Other news sources noted that while the music might be RuPaul's, the lyrics have been changed to throw down a challenge to the competition the Stingers will face at the Gay Games.
The new video follows up the team's 2016 version of the Cyndi Lauper smash "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," One True Voice noted.
The Gay Games will take place August 4-12.
