The Miami Marlins are stepping up to the plate and showing their pride.
South Florida’s Major League Baseball franchise announced plans for a LGBT themed “Pride at the Park” July 9 when the Marlins play host to the visiting Cincinnati Reds. First pitch for the Saturday game is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. at Marlins Park (501 Marlins Way, Miami 33125) in Little Havana.
Under new manager Don Mattingly, the Marlins are a competitive team this year, currently positioned second behind the division leading Washington Nationals. Miami owns a 41-36 record heading into Wednesday’s game in Detroit.
A portion of the proceeds from “Pride at the Park” will be donated to the Florida Disaster Fund in dedication of those who lost their lives in the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. VIP packages are available for $55. More for more information, visit marlins.com/pride
