(EDGE) It's rumored that President-Elect Donald Trump will nominate Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) as secretary of health and human services, Polticio reports, citing two sources.
"Tom Price has been loyal to Donald Trump from the outset and his knowledge of health care is second to none," a Republican source close to the Trump campaign told the website. "Him being in contention for HHS secretary makes perfect sense."
If the sources are correct, Price as secretary of health could be terrible for the LGBT community as the lawmaker has a 0% rating from the Human Rights Campaign.
Price supported a constitutional amendment that would define marriage between one man and one woman and said that protecting reproductive and LGBT rights are "a huge cost-driver" to the state budget.
"The consequences of activity that has been seen as outside the norm are real and must be explored completely... [before] moving forward with any social legislation that would alter things," Price said in 2013, according to Right Wing Watch.
In 2007, he voted against a bill that would prohibit job discrimination based on sexual orientation.
