(CNN) A somber Hillary Clinton made her concession speech Wednesday, telling supporters and campaign staff members in New York City that she was proud of their effort and pledged to work with President-elect Donald Trump.

"Last night, I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans," Clinton said.

Clinton conceded to Trump in a phone call early Wednesday morning but declined to deliver public remarks.
