The Stable Expands and Raises Money for Charity
After years of city hall meetings and delays, The Stable bar on 205 E Oakland Park finally has a permit to start knocking down the infamous wall that divided the bar almost in half. And as always, owners Ken Kelley and Lloyd Pagels made it a crazy event to raise money for a good cause.
Thanksgiving night, everyone was encouraged to draw graffiti on the walls, with most messages exclaiming the excitement of the wall’s demise. After the bar’s wild annual Turkey Turnabout show, patrons purchased hammers for a $5 minimum to take a whack at the wall. Most that participated donated much more, as all in attendance were anxious to participate in the destruction, overflowing the donation jar. All of the proceeds went to The Broward Pantry.
