Comedy

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer and her friends Rachel Feinstein, Bridget Everett and Mia Jackson are coming to the Hard Rock Event Center at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Hollywood tonight at 8 p.m. Schumer has banned cellphones and recording devices in the arena, so be prepared for some uncensored humor from everyone. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Tickets start at $102 at MyHRL.com.

Film

Beat the summer heat with some cool comedy at your local cineplex. The surprise hit of the summer is “Crazy Rich Asians,” the big screen adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s novel, starring Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh. Hunky Henry Cavill (“Superman,” “The Tudors”) is hanging on in theaters in the latest “Mission: Impossible” sequel. History buffs will enjoy “Operation Finale” opening this weekend and we’re just not sure who is buying tickets to Melissa McCarthy’s puppet whodunnit, “The Happytime Murders.” Check local listings for thaters and show times.

Monday, 9/3

Holiday

Isn’t it ironic that on Labor Day, the holiday dedicated the workers who keep our economy chugging along, that so many of our friends will be working today? If you’re one of the lucky ones who get a day off, why not head down to Wilton Manors after that relaxing poolside barbecue? The many gay bars and clubs along the drive will welcome you with happy hour drink specials, special entertainment and much more.
