I recently attended the Maltz-Jupiter Theatre annual private cocktail party to announce the 2014/15 season to media and group leaders.

“Group leaders are the people who bring other people to the shows,” said Linnea Brown, Public Relations Director at the Theatre. They buy blocks of seats and we want them to be excited about coming attractions.”

The evening began with an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres as some 80 plus people assembled to learn about next years’ shows. After food and fine chatter, the group proceeded to the new Green Room on the second level in the new addition where coffee joined the other beverages and a runway for desserts to match the shows was set up in the middle of the room.

Managing Artistic Director Andrew Kato announced the plays to themes from the musicals or something that would hint at the non-musical titles.

In order of appearance came: English tea cookies for “The Foreigner;” rugelach for “Fiddler on the Roof;” a glittery green cupcake tower for “The Wiz;” a cake frosted to look like a suit and tie for “Glengarry Glen Ross;” and Napoleons and éclairs for “Les Miserables.”

All were beautifully presented and delicious and there were few leftovers by the time the attendees left for home… and so much for that diet.

After the desserts two models from the West Palm Beach-based Garbage Gone Glam showcased dresses tailored from the Theatre marketing materials. Guests could have their photos taken with the models and many did.

After the announcements, Kato reminded the attendees that The Best of Everything Sweepstakes will run until Mar 10. Everyone who renews their subscription by that date will be entered into the drawing for a chance to win two tickets to everything the Theatre produces in the coming year: plays, special programs, cast parties, circle of friends benefits, the Theatre’s annual gala and much more.

He also reminded everyone that single play and musical tickets go on sale Aug 25 at 10 a.m. and single tickets for special productions, special engagements and limited engagements go on sale May 5 at 10 a.m.
