According to The YouGov BrandIndex, YouTube has claimed the top spot this year, climbing from number six in the past. Last year’s top brand was Android, which is now down to number 15.
Nearly half of all brands on the top 20 are either technology or entertainment brands, including Netflix, Amazon.com, Samsung, Kindle, Google, Android, iPhone, PBS, HBO.
In order to rank the brands, respondents had to answer the question: “If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?” While the number of participants in the survey is not revealed, it states that all identified as LGBT.
Some of the companies that made the most progress appealing to LGBT people are Capital One and Coca Cola.
Those to drop out of the top 20 are Disneyland/Walt Disney World, Apple, Comedy Central and Starbucks.
